Fourth Oban darts season hits the mark

Oban darts players are back on the board after the Oban & District Darts (ODD) League restarted last month at The Claredon Hotel.

In the second round of the fourth ODD season, 16 players graced the oche on Friday September 30 to battle it out in the usual knockout format.

The first quarter final saw Alex McGuire defeat Kenny Carmichael 3-1, before Andrew Richie also progressed to the Semi-finals after beating Duncan MacMillan 3-2 in a contender for the match of the night.

In the other last eight games, Adam Brook progressed after defeating David Flanagan 3-0 and Leon Smith came out on top against Jack Whitley in a 3-2 win.

Richie then recorded a relentless 4-0 win against McGuire to reach the final, before Brook then replicated his score in the second semi-final against Smith.

This set up a grandstand final in which Brook overcame Richie 5-3 as both players saved their best darts for the end of the match.

In the end, Brook checked out on 153 to win the night after hitting two 171-180s on the night.

The league leader after two rounds also recorded the highest checkout with his score of 153, with Richie also hitting a 124 checkout, which included a bullseye.

On awarding the Player of the Week, ODD’s Adam Brook said: “It was a tough decision this week as everyone is improving so much. The person that stood out the most was Andrew Richie (Boza), who hit great darts all night.

“He was very focused and played some fantastic stuff all night. Join us this Friday and get on our league table on Friday 6th October, with a 7pm registration cut-off .”

Season four of the Friday night darts league is sponsored by M Macniven Building Contractor.
