John amongst the points on new motorbike

John McPhee was amongst the points for the second weekend running in his second race with D34G Racing at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve in Portugal.

The Connel native tackled the Pirelli Portuguese Round in the 11th and penultimate round of the FIM Supersport World Championship (World SSP) last weekend, finishing 13th in Race 1 and 14th in Race 2.

John said: “It’s been a positive weekend. We scored points in both races and made a good step forward in terms of pace and my feeling on the bike in race two.”

The 29-year-old had started his first World SSP season with the Vince64 Racing Team, before announcing on September 19 he would be joining the Italian D34 Racing outfit.

Making his team debut at the Tissot Aragon Round in Spain, the D34G rider has had to adapt to racing on a Ducati Panigale V2 bike after nine rounds of racing on a Kawasaki 2X-6R.

John added: “I want to thank everyone in D34G for their great work, continuing to help me adapt and improve my riding on their V2.”

This latest result places John 16th out of 44 riders in the World SSP overall rankings, with 55 points ahead of the final Prometeon Spanish Round between October 27-29.
