Twin business awards for Alasdair Ferguson

September brought double celebrations for Alasdair Ferguson, group managing director of Ferguson Transport and Shipping, as he took home two Highland business leader awards.

Friday September 29 saw Mr Ferguson claim the Business Leader of the Year award at the Highland Business Awards (HBA), presented at the Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness.

Also nominated were Chris O’Brien of Nevis Range and David Dowling of Cairngorm Group.

The HBA success came only two weeks after Mr Ferguson picked up the Alvance Aluminium Award for Outstanding Business Leader at the Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI) Highlands and Islands Business Excellence Awards.

That black tie ceremony on September 14, hosted by STV presenter Nicola McAbbey, was also held at the Kingsmill Hotel.

Speaking after his latest award, Mr Ferguson said: “It is an absolute honour to have won the Highland Business Leader of the Year Award.

“This is huge recognition to not only myself but the whole Ferguson Transport and Shipping team that I work alongside, the group directors, my senior management team and all my employees.

“We as a business strive to grow and better ourselves continuously and winning the award is real testament to how hard we as a team have worked to achieve this.”
