Weather woes postpone football matches

Traffic chaos and waterlogged pitches caused by heavy rainfall resulted in the postponement of multiple football matches last weekend.

Campbeltown Pupils FC were due to take on Drumchapel United in the second round of the Strathclyde Cup on Saturday but flooding and landslides on the A83 prevented the team from being able to travel to Glasgow. The match has been rearranged for tomorrow (Saturday).

Campbeltown Pupils 2009s (under-15s) were scheduled to take on Paisley and District Saturday league team Giffnock SC away from home in the second round of the Scottish Cup last Saturday, but the game was called off before the Kintyre side set off due to the hosts having a waterlogged pitch. The game will be replayed at a later date.

Thankfully, Tarbert AFC’s away match against Strathclyde University was cancelled last Friday afternoon, sparing the boys any travel chaos.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Dookers have a home game against Bearsden when they will be kitted out in their new strips courtesy of Prentice Shellfish Ltd. Kick-off is scheduled for 2pm.
