Heb Isles back on Islay route

The MV Hebridean Isles was back serving the Islay route this week after being out action for nine months.

The vessel visited Brodick last week during a series of sea trials out of Troon, following extensive repairs which were completed in Aberdeen.

Her reintroduction gives CalMac a little breathing space with their ageing fleet ahead of the winter timetables which start on Monday October 23.

The MV Hebridean Isles has been operating on the Kennacraig to Port Askaig route since last Saturday.

A CalMac spokesperson said: “The MV Hebridean Isles will be supporting services for Islay from October 14 – 20 inclusive in the next stage of her operational trials, following a period of significant work and investigations.

“These trials will mark the latest phase of testing and we will provide an update on the outcome of these trials over the coming week.”
