Pupils put to the sword in tough cup match

A very depleted Campbeltown Pupils squad travelled to Glasgow to play Drumchapel United in the Strathclyde Cup second round last Saturday.

Nine regular Pupils players were unavailable for selection against a team littered with players with professional experience.

A one-sided game ended with a thumping 12-0 defeat as the Kintyre Hire-away sponsored Pupils were overrun by a ruthless home side.

Surprisingly with the score line, it took 21 minutes for the home side to take the lead. Three more goals were added to make it 4-0 at half-time.

The movement and finishing from Drumchapel United were too much for a dispirited Pupils team and, with any resistance long gone, the home side ruthlessly punished at will to inflict a heavy defeat.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Pupils are at home against Rutherglen Glencairn, another top side in the West of Scotland Cup.

Rutherglen reached the final of the Scottish Junior Cup last season, losing narrowly to Cumnock.

Kick off at Kintyre Park is at 2pm.
