‘Cocktails for charity’ success at sailing club

Campbeltown Sailing Club joined forces with Carradale’s own ‘Cocktail Queen’ to put on a successful ‘cocktails for charity’ evening.

Campbeltown’s finest definitely dressed to impress despite the horrendous weather on Saturday October 14, and enjoyed an unbelievable 83 cocktails over the evening.

With proceeds from a very well-supported raffle, including a donation from Springbank Distillery, boosting ticket sales and cocktail revenue, the evening raised an incredible £1,260, shared equally between the sailing club and The Eye Fund.

Helen Rowlands, self-styled ‘Cocktail Queen’, has been running ‘cocktails for charity’ events for several years, raising funds for her family charity The Eye Fund – a charity that provides counselling and support to people losing their vision.

The sailing club will be using its half of the proceeds to buy equipment to enhance sailing opportunities for young people.

This event, the Cocktail Queen’s first in Scotland since moving to Carradale last year, was also supported by the ladies from The Old Schoolhouse Gallery, which sells art created locally by its Carradale proprietors.

They quickly learned how to shake a range of cocktails from the classic Clover Club to the innovative Reality Check #2 featuring beer as a key ingredient.

“Here’s to the next event!” said the Cocktail Queen.
