Council hopes MV Corran back on Friday or Saturday

The Highland Council has issued an updated timetable for the MV Corran’s return after the vessel was granted its ‘Passenger Carrying Certificate’ on Wednesday.

A media statement from the council says that the boat is ‘on its way home’ today (Thursday October 26) after gaining the certificate from the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. With an early start and favourable conditions it is hoped to arrive late Thursday evening.

Ramps will then be fitted on the morning of Friday October 27, followed by final preparations to resume service as soon as possible afterwards.

It is therefore hoped the boat could return to service on Friday October 27 or Saturday October 28. Confirmation will be given when final preparations are well under way.

The temporary foot passenger services from Corran and Fort William will continue until the MV Corran returns to service.

In preparation for the vessel’s return, the council is asking that anyone with cars parked at the slipway marshalling areas be removed by Thursday night (October 26).

The statement also notes that Corran Ferry temporary foot passenger timetables and service updates can be found on the new Corran Ferry Facebook page and the @CorranFerry X (formerly Twitter) page.

Information is also available on the council’s Corran Ferry website.

As of 11.30am on Thursday October 26, the ferry was sailing north off the west coast of the Kintyre peninsula.
