International pianist warms up for Kintyre concerts

A noted American concert pianist is warming up for two Kintyre shows next month.

Catherine Nardiello, who lives in Switzerland, will kick off her Kintyre dates at The Glen Bar and Restaurant in Carradale on Remembrance Sunday (November 12).

Tickets for the event include a luncheon, from midday, followed by the concert from 2pm to 3pm.

Her programme will include some pieces in honour of it being Remembrance Sunday as well as classical works.

Miss Nardiello will then tinkle the ivories at a Christmas fair at Campbeltown Town Hall on Friday November 24, where she will play Christmas carols in various styles.

These will not be her first Kintyre performances, with several successful Carradale and Campbeltown concerts already under her belt.

Born in Ohio, USA, Miss Nardiello received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Towson State University in Maryland before first travelling to Europe in 1986.

Performing world-wide with many notable choirs, ensembles and orchestras, she is active in Europe as a freelance pianist, soloist, chamber musician and recording artist who has appeared on radio and television.

Her repertoire spans from classical to contemporary, specialising in American piano music, women composers and contemporary music, topics on which she gives lectures and masterclasses as a visiting artist.

She also gives concerts for children and their families at Montessori, Waldorf and Rudolf Steiner schools, and she has even had American and European composers write pieces especially for her.

Her next tour begins in the south-east of England and finishes on ‘Three Kings Day’ – Saturday January 6 – in Switzerland.

Her 24th CD will be released next winter.
