Brave stroke survivor

The Campbeltown woman who is backing the Stroke Association’s campaign for better emotional and psychological support for stroke survivors must be commended.

Having suffered a stroke herself, she has first-hand experience of how harrowing it can be.

So often, regarding many things in life, we focus on physical recovery and neglect to place appropriate attention on mental health rehabilitation.

From being unable to stop crying and get out of bed, to being able to stand up in support for others, we commend the Campbeltown woman’s bravery and courage and wish her and all stroke survivors well.

Argyll and Bute HSCP said it already offers stroke patients comprehensive care from multidisciplinary professional teams and we hope that the Stroke Association’s campaign only helps to consolidate that care.

Agricultural apathy

How is it that a community as farming-orientated as Campbeltown can only attract three students to learn about a career in agriculture?

It must have been very disheartening for UHI Argyll and its dedicated tutors to have to pull the plug on its NC in Agriculture course.

The education provider seems determined to continue delivering rural skills courses, so perhaps there is hope of the course returning in future.
