Fort William therapist Bronagh retrains as dentist

The shortage of Lochaber dentists has eased by one, thanks to the dedication of Bronagh Wishart.

Working at Fort William’s M&S Dental Care, Bronagh, 27, has transitioned from a dental therapist to qualified dentist. She is now able to diagnose, plan treatment and execute procedures.

Bronagh, who is also chairperson and co-founder of the Nevis Triathlon Club, undertook her retraining at Aberdeen University. She also recently completed Clyde Munro’s Best Foot Forward training programme aimed at newly-qualified dentists.

Her decision to retrain was, she says, a matter of pushing herself to the limits of what she thinks she can achieve.

“Although I already had a detailed understanding of the community’s dental needs through my previous role, the decision to retrain was a huge personal challenge,” she says. “Luckily, I was supported by my colleagues at M&S Dental Care and by Clyde Munro. They provide so many additional training opportunities, especially for newly- qualified dentists.”
