Lifeboat ladies rack up 70 years’ service

Two of Campbeltown Lifeboat Station’s fundraising stalwarts have been recognised for their combined 70 years of service.

Lynsey Anderson, RNLI community manager, visited the station recently to present volunteers Jane Stewart and Marjorie Leighton with long service medals in honour of their decades of dedication to the life-saving charity.

A station spokesperson said: “This is an outstanding honour and congratulations from the team.”

Established in 1824, the RNLI has saved more than 140,000 lives and now runs more than 237 lifeboat stations and 220 beach lifeguard units across the UK and Republic of Ireland, which are dependent on crews and volunteers like Jane and Marjorie.
