Team gets out of this world kit

Oban Galaxy 2012 football club has won a new sponsored kit.

The team was one of nine winners chosen by national builders’ merchant Jewson and plastic pipe manufacturer Polypipe.

Lead coach Archie Clarke said: “We have approximately 20 young people who train weekly and play league games on a Sunday. We’ve always had to ask for sponsors for new kit and equipment, but this became harder during Covid. Since then, it has got even tougher and we were really in need of a decent strip. The team are absolutely made up they have won. Thank you so much to Jewson and Polypipe.”

Allan Davidson, regional managing director for Scotland and the North at Jewson, said: “In their application, Oban Galaxy 2012 proved it goes that extra mile to help young people access sports which changes their lives. We are pleased to be able to make that even more special through the provision of dual-branded, sponsored kits from Jewson and Polypipe.”

Sean Lanagan, key account manager at Polypipe, said: “Being part of a sports team should mean feeling united through your kit as well as through your determination and desire to work together. We are glad to have played a part in that for this deserving club.”

The other winning teams were: Wigtownshire Youth Rugby and Stranraer FC Youth in Stranraer; Livingston Rugby Boys’ Team in Falkirk; Ceann Creige Hurling and Camogie Club in Glasgow; Inter Galloway AFC Community Youths in Dumfries and Dumbarton Riverside Disability Football Team in Dumbarton.
