Music Shed members make good with some seasonal singing

Ten members of the Music Shed Community Choir went busking in Fort William on Saturday October 21 to raise funds for three recent disaster appeals.

The earthquake in Morocco, the floods in Libya and the earthquake in Afghanistan all benefitted from the musical fundraiser.

“Thanks to the generosity of shoppers at the North Road Retail Park and friends and families of choir members, and help from our great bucket shakers, we’ve raised a total so far of £225.37, with online donations still to be counted,” said choirleader Mandy Ketchin.

“We sang some lovely harmony songs about robins, falling leaves, winter nights, skirling snow, mangoes and mellowness.

“It’s a busy time ahead for us – we’re looking forward to singing at the Rotary Christmas Fair and at the Kilmallie Christmas Lights Switch-on as well as a singalong concert in December – keep an eye out for details.

“And we always welcome new singers.

“We’re an all-abilities choir with no need to read music and the emphasis is on having feelgood fun, so we’re a great informal group for less confident singers.”
