Bumper entry for winter league opener

Lochaber Athletic Club (LAC) Winter League went under starters orders on Sunday November 4 with the first of 11 races taking place between now and the end of February 2024.

Last weekend’s opener was the annual Cow Hill race which attracted an amazing 88 entries.

“We are absolutely delighted to have had such a great turn out,” said an LAC spokesperson. “We hope this level of participation continues for the rest of the league. It was lovely to see plenty old faces and new.”

Conditions on the day were pretty much perfect, dry and cold with the sun peeking through the clouds.

Results

Men: 1 Denis Prikulis, LAC; 2 Es Tresidder, LAC; 3 Ruairdh Oliver-Jones, LAC.

Women: 1 Olivia MacRae, LAC; 2 Kira MacDonald, LAC; 3 Raeanne Miller, unattached.

The club thanks race organiser Ian and all of the cheery marshals, helpers and Richard and Emma for doing the timing.

“We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the second race on Sunday November 12 – The Drumfada Chase,” added the spokesperson.

Now that the clocks have changed for winter, LAC now meets at Lochaber Leisure Centre for club runs on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6pm. Runners are asked not to congregate inside the building.
