The Pupils Under 15s’ Scottish Cup run came to an end last Sunday against the ’09 Charlie Miller Academy team.

Reaching the third round for the first time, the young Pupils came up against a slick passing side currently sitting joint top of the first division and coached by ex-Rangers and Scotland star Charlie Miller.

A relatively tight first half in which the Pupils battled well to hold the score for much of it to a two-goal deficit, saw them hit with sucker punches just before, and just after half time, to put the game out of sight.

The second half saw the Academy’s dominance in possession find the net with five further goals.

Best Pupils’ efforts on goal on the day were a long-range free kick from Ryan Johnston, which just failed to find the top corner, and another shot just wide from the same player after good build-up play between Robert Kerr and Rio Arkell.

The Kintyre team can take great heart from a performance that, despite the score line, showed 100 per cent commitment from every player involved.

This weekend the young Pupils have a free weekend.
