IT incident causes Western Isles disruption

The local authority in the Western Isles is experiencing significant disruption after an incident affected its IT system.

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar have prioritised restoring and securing data, which will ensure the continued delivery of services to those in the communities it serves.

Work is also underway to redirect public phone numbers, which will allow key services to be contacted.

A Comhalrie statement said: “We will update the public regularly on the progression of this work and provide details of any further impacts to service delivery.

“The Comhairle is now engaging with Scottish Government and taking professional advice to establish the root cause of the incident and identify necessary actions.”

The incident first occurred on Tuesday morning, with Comhairlie’s website currently down, but its out-of-hours service is functioning as normal.

More information and updates on the disruption can be found on the local authority’s Facebook page.
