Public invited to Fort William masterplan event

Next Wednesday, November 15, the public are invited to attend the Fort William town centre masterplan engagement event at the Nevis Centre, Fort William.

The event, which is part of Lochaber Ideas Week, will take place between noon and 7pm.

A spokesperson for Highland Council said: “Come along to see the ­first design concepts and initial ideas of how the town could look. Meet the project team and get involved to ensure all ideas and local input is considered at this key stage.”

Economy and Infrastructure Committee chairperson Councillor Ken Gowans said: “We are delighted the Fort William Town Centre Masterplan is progressing and now at a stage where, over the coming months, key stakeholders and the public can begin to visualise how a modern and inclusive Fort William town centre could look and work.”

Architect-Director for Threesixty, Rory Kellet, said: “We have enjoyed hearing from a diverse range of interests in the town. It is very clear the there is a shared ambition to transform Fort William twon centre into a vibrant, textured, varied, safe and inclusive place to live, work and play.”

The development of the masterplan is a collaborative effort between The Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) and Lochaber Chamber of Commerce.

FW2040 has its own dedicated website where you can keep informed on developments, the town centre concept ideas will shortly be available on the website.
