End of an era for Rotary Christmas post

There are lots of aspects of life before Covid that are no longer with us.

One of the features of Christmas in Campbeltown has been the Rotary Christmas Post.

A real money saver as it costs so much less than using the universal service, the Royal Mail, that delivers the post each day.

However, Rotary Club of Campbeltown has decided it cannot continue with the service as it no longer has the resources to deliver about 4,000 items across South Kintyre.

Alan Milstead, president of the town’s Rotary, said: “It is certainly the end of an era for Rotary but the good news is that there is another local charitable group that is planning a replacement service – it might be slightly different so watch this space.”

Rotary took over the Christmas post from the Scouts around 20 years ago and have being providing this valued service ever since.
