Convincing home win for Fort William Under 14 side

Fort William Football Club’s Under 14s chalked up another success last Sunday when they faced Clachnacuddin on the Lochaber High School astroturf.

The home side started fast, retaining the upper hand through most of the first of three 30 minute ‘halfs’, going one up with a header from Alfie Brown who put the ball over the head of the goalkeeper convincingly into the back of the net.

In the second 30 minutes Fort William started well and thanks to a double score from Jamie Macniven went 3-0 up.

Perhaps spurred on by this, Clachnacuddin started to dominate the action and clawed
two goals back before the end of the segment.

The third 30 minutes was fairly even but a free kick goal from Levi Maclean saw the home side run out 4-2 winners and there were great celebrations from the youngsters after a strong, skilful game from both sides.

Coach Marc MacDonald said: “The under 14s are recording back-to-back wins in the league with a superb performance against equally impressive opponents.

“Clachnacuddin always deploy strong footballers and demonstrate a footballing style that has a proven track record over many years.

“To overcome this side takes good teamwork. There has been excellent progress for the side and we look forward to their continued improvement.”
