Pupils blown away by promotion-seeking side

A third consecutive away match for the Campbeltown Pupils in Renfrew against St Peter’s ended in a heavy defeat last Saturday.

After trips to Largs and Carluke the previous two weeks, it was a depleted pool that travelled to play a side challenging for the title last weekend.

The Kintyre Hire away-sponsored Pupils do not have a strong enough pool of players to be competitive to take on a schedule of difficult away fixtures consecutively.

These concerns were highlighted when an extra away match was added but the complaint fell on deaf ears.

Saturday’s game was played in very wet conditions that never let up all afternoon, but it never troubled an excellent St Peter’s side.

They were relentless as they put the Pupils to the sword and put the game to bed with a flurry of early goals.

The second half was much the same, with the energy and movement of the St Peter’s players too much for a dispirited Pupils side, and the scoreline finished 8-0.

Tomorrow (Saturday), the Pupils are at home against East Kilbride Thistle with a 1.30pm kick-off.
