Time to light up Upper Achintore

The scene is set for a colourful Christmas Tree Lights switch-on event on Saturday December 2 at 4pm at the entrance to Angus MacIver Way.

Over one hundred students from Lundavra Primary School entered the challenging
competition, to design a poster to publicise the event, with the winner and runners-up
to be announced at the event itself on Saturday.

Local resident Connor Campbell, who has a BA degree in Computer Art from Abertay
University, independently judged the competition.

“The submissions showcased an enchanting array of high-quality and uniquely imaginative creations from all ages that not only sparkled with creativity but also offered insight into the individual’s personal associations and cherished experiences of Christmas.”

The winner will have the honour of pushing the plunger switch to light up the sparkling festive lights as well as, along with the two runners-up, receiving gifts donated by
Highland Council and Lochaber Rotary Club.

Festive singing will be led by local resident David Anderson who many will remember as their local optician prior to his retirement.

Group Chairman Mark Linfield said how much he is looking forward to seeing everyone
there.
