Town raises thousands for annual Poppy Appeal

Campbeltown this year raised £4,411.25 for poppyscotland’s Scottish Poppy Appeal.

Scotland’s largest fundraising campaign, the appeal takes place annually in the run up to Remembrance Sunday in November.

Money raised during the Scottish Poppy Appeal is used to provide vital life-changing support to the armed forces community in Scotland.

In addition to members of the Royal British Legion Scotland (RBLS) Campbeltown branch collecting money in exchange for poppies in Campbeltown’s Tesco and Coop supermarkets on certain days, many smaller shops had poppies and collection tins throughout the weeks preceding Remembrance Sunday.

“Thank you so much to all those who donated,” said George Rahman, chairman of the RBLS Campbeltown branch.

“It amazes me that, even in these difficult times, people can still dig deep in supporting service charities.

“This money goes a long way to help support those who are still serving and those who have served, including their families. Thank you for your continued support.”
