Bob returns home ahead of his big move

Bob MacIntyre’s brilliant golfing year ended on a slightly flat note last week at the ISPS Handa Australian Open in Sydney.

Rounds of 70 and 77 saw the Oban man comfortably miss the cut, with this result meaning he finishes the year in 57th position in the Official World Golf Rankings.

MacIntyre will now to his home town to make final preparations for his switch to the PGA Tour, with his first event being the Sony Open in Hawaii in early January.

Despite the disappointment Down Under, it has been an outstanding year for the 27-year-old, with seven top ten finishes.

He also gave himself multiple chances to add to the two DP World Tour titles he already has, coming agonisingly close at the Scottish Open before being pipped by a moment of brilliance from Rory McIlroy.

However, the undeniable highlight for the Glencruitten man was his unforgettable and undefeated Ryder Cup debut in September, which had the whole of Scotland, and indeed Europe, cheering him on.

As he now finalises plans for his move stateside and his chance to do battle with the biggest names in golf on a weekly basis, MacIntyre can look back on 2023 with the satisfaction that he did Oban and the whole of Scotland proud.
