Pipers raise spirits and funds at coffee morning

Kintyre Pipe Band Association roused visitors as it raised a grand total at its annual coffee morning.

Youngsters from Kintyre Schools Pipe Band performed outside Campbeltown Town Hall, as others, assisted by parents and association members, manned stalls inside and ensured tables remained stocked up with tasty treats including hot mince pies as they served teas and coffees.

The Saturday November 25 event, which also featured baking and bottle stalls, a raffle and a treasure map game, raised £1,185.40 which will help fund the band’s competition trips next year.

“We had a great day at our coffee morning and would like to thank everyone who came along and supported us, as it is very much appreciated,” said Kintyre Pipe Band Association chairman Gilbert McKillop.

“Well done and thank you to parents and supporters who donated to our bottle stall, baking stall and to the raffle prizes.

“Thanks also to everyone who came and helped at the door with entry fee and raffles and also running the baking and bottle stall and running the treasure map and also everyone who helped in the kitchen.

“Thank you to the town hall staff and volunteers who helped to set up and put away tables and chairs in the hall.”

He added: “We would also like to thank Donna Graham and staff at the local Co-op who have been a great support to us and for donating the tea, coffee, sugar and juice and also donating to the raffle.”
