And the winning name is ……

Re_Store is the people’s choice of name for a new community shop and workshop space opening soon in George Street, Oban.

The name was the winner of an online poll.

Connecting Communities Collective (CCC) is re-purposing empty premises next to Oxfam in George Street to offer second hand clothes and bargain-price homewares as well as run projects for reducing food waste and workshop sessions for remaking, repairing and upcycling. It will also be an information point for regular updates on what is happening around town and promote the work of organisations in the area.

CCC is a new partnership set up in Oban thanks to three years of funding secured from the Community-Led Local Development Fund and Investing in Communities Fund. Organisations at its core so far are Healthy Options, Hope Kitchen, ALIEnergy, Youth Cafe and Atlantis Lesiure but more can join.

The venture is hosting a Pianodrome workshop next Wednesday, December 13, between 4pm and 7pm, where you can drop in and get to dissect untunable pianos and give them new life by turning them into furniture for the shop.
