Calum MacPhail releases heartfelt new single

LOST is the moving new single from award-winning Fort William accordionist and vocalist Calum MacPhail.

Released tomorrow, December 8, this is his first original single since the release of his successful debut solo album  in April  this year.

Written about the end of a relationship, the track is guitar led, bringing more of an indie feel and a standout bassline to Calum’s signature Celtic country-pop sound, while retaining a traditional edge and allowing Calum’s iconic vocals and passionate lyrics to shine.

With Calum MacPhail on vocals, Sean Cousins is on guitar, Calum MacQuarrie on bass guitar and synth, Ali Levack on whistle, and Cathal Murphy on electric guitar and backing vocals, along with more backing vocals from Meghan Campbell.

Calum said: “It was fantastic to record LOST with some brilliant musicians who I’ve worked with before, to really bring the track to life and express how I was feeling when I wrote it. This is a very personal song for me but I think a lot of people will be able to relate to the sentiment, and I hope the music and lyrics resonate.”

Calum is a founding member of the award-winning trad folk powerhouse band Hò-rò and began releasing solo music in 2017.

In 2021, he won the MG ALBA Scots Trad Music Awards Original Work of the Year for his single 7 Years Old. LOST follows the release of Calum’s take on the beloved Zac Brown Band song Chicken Fried in November 2023.

The single was recorded by Ross David Saunders at GloWorm Recording Studios in Glasgow, thanks to funding from Creative Scotland.

It will be available to download and stream on all major platforms on from tomorrow.
