Ardrishaig party has special visitor

Christmas spirit was out in force in Mid Argyll at the weekend with various festive events taking place in Lochgilphead, Ardrishaig and Tarbert.

Ardrishaig made up for its small amount of festive street lights with a massive turnout at a packed children’s party in the public hall.

Gala queen Maisie Gilmour was back on duty to switch on the tree and some lights along the front street.

Afterwards there was mulled wine and hot chocolate, a bouncy castle and a visit from Santa, who handed out presents.

Ardrishaig Community Trust laid on the event for free as part of its campaign ‘Putting the heart back into Ardrishaig’.

It was clearly well appreciated by families, who were out in force to enjoy the party.

Ready Steady Bounce owner Corey Bowness, who at aged 12 could be the youngest businessman in Ardrishaig, made his bouncy castle available for the other youngsters to enjoy. He also has a ball pit for hire.

The Christmas lights in the village have come to the end of their lifespan, but a supplier has been sourced to ensure Ardrishaig shines next year. And £1,000 raised by Margaret Galloway will go towards the cost.

A whole host of individuals and businesses gave their time to get this year’s lights up and running.

The community would like to say a big thank you to: MacLeod Construction Limited , D A MacDonald Contractors Ltd. , G MacNaughton & Sons, Iain Meikle, John McKellar, David Renwick, Nigel Willis, Gordon Gauld, Tilhill , Jamie MacKenzie, Coille Haulage , Colin Brolly Forestry Ltd , Gavin, Lynn and Alastair Gorrie, Tia Nicholson, Jeanette and Ed Laughton, Duncan Broadfoot, Douglas Young, Susan Young, Peter and Linda Quelch, Fiona and Colin MacFarlane, Roy Nelson, Danny Carroll and last but not least, the biggest help of all, Stevie MacCormick.
