Bellevue Farmers’ market takes on festive flavour

Bellevue Farm in Blackwaterfoot spread some Christmas cheer last weekend with its farmers’ market taking on a festive flavour.

Held every three months, the farmers’ market offers visitors farm-fresh produce and its Christmas offering had the added allure of gift stalls, festive food stalls and a visit from Santa.

Visitors were treated to a wide range of products from Arran and further afield. On offer was beer, cheese, baking of every description, flowers, fresh meat, butter, wreaths, wood work, gifts, decorations, ornaments and much more.

The family-friendly event included a best decoration competition, a raffle, a performance from Arran Brass Band and a visit from Santa who arrived on a tractor.

Excited children, who were well-fed on sweet treats, had the chance to meet Santa and tell him what they had on their Christmas lists. Santa posed for photographs with the children – on a tractor – and left them with a chocolate treat while promising to see them again soon.

Donations received from the meet-Santa event will go to the Breast Cancer Now charity.

Bellevue Farm is a traditional, family-run working farm. In addition to its barley, animal rearing and meat sales, it also hosts farm tours, farm activities and farmers’ markets.

The popular Christmas Fest market attracted a huge number of visitors throughout the day. The next market is scheduled to take place in March.
