Lagg Distillery has been raising a glass to its success at the prestigious Scottish Whisky awards where Isle of Arran Distillers won the Distillery of the Year and Excellence in Branding awards.
Not only that, but its sister distillery, Lochranza Distillery, also won a Gold award for their Arran Single Malt 10 year old in the Single Malt 12 and Under category.
The Scottish Whisky awards, now in its fifth year, is an independent awards programme honouring whisky distilling in Scotland and it is the only drinks competition in the world dedicated solely to the Scotch whisky business.
Judging is undertaken by an independent judging panel, made up of a diverse group of professionals from Scotland, the UK, and beyond, and they assess entries in both the taste competition and the business competition.
Lagg Distillery opened its doors in 2019 and has recently released the second edition of their core range single malts, the Lagg Single Malt Corriecravie Edition, which follows the huge success of their flagship single malt – The Kilmory Edition which launched in June this year.
Lagg Distillery Manager Graham Omand commented on their award success: “We as a team are absolutely delighted to be honoured with Distillery of the Year and also Excellence in Branding at the prestigious Scottish Whisky Awards. We are incredibly proud of the success of both of our core range single malts which launched this year, and this is the perfect celebration to end 2023. We look forward to our continued success and seeing what 2024 brings.”
Lagg Distillery is the sister of independently owned Lochranza Distillery which was established at the north end of the island in 1995 and produce Arran single malt. Lagg Distillery and its magnificent visitor centre attracts a huge amount of visitors each year with many visiting to sample and purchase the whisky but also to see the iconic building. The architects have designed a spectacular building that echoes the contours of Arran as you’d see it from Ailsa Craig and celebrates the unique geography of the surrounding environment by using dramatic roofs which are covered by a sedum blanket of seasonal plants.
Lagg Distillery offers a range of tastings, tours and dining options for visitors and locals alike, as well as their gift shop where you can purchase the new LAGG single malts and a range of their exclusive whiskies. The whisky bar on the upper level is an ideal place to relax and take in the panoramic views with whisky flights, chocolate pairings and delicious grazing boards.
