Plans being drawn up for community land project

Proposals to redevelop six acres of community land at the Ardrishaig KGV Community Park are being drawn up by a prestigious architect with strong Argyll roots.

Lorne Haycock, who operates LH Architecture, attended school in Lochgilphead and is the architect behind the current Free Church redevelopment.

The concept drawings for the Adrishaig ground are being drawn up this month and will be displayed in the public hall at the end of January.

Blair Johnston, secretary of the community park association, said: “We will have six different zones in the park. The sports and events field, woodland area, children’s play park and the very interesting Royal Observer core bunker.

“The drawings will be presented for community engagement at the end of January 2024. We want it to be as open as possible. The plans will be on display over a full weekend. And we want everyone in the community to have their say.

“We are looking into providing a purpose-built clubhouse complete with function room. There used to be changing rooms at the park, but they became dilapidated.

“What we are proposing is quite an enormous transformation. If we don’t think big, then what is the point in doing it? We want to do something that people can get excited about.”
