New rain warning for West Highlands

A weather warning for rain has been put in place for a large area of the North-West Highlands this weekend.

The Met Office has forecasted that North Argyll, Lochaber and Skye will experience heavy rainfall, which could cause disruption to travel and flooding events.

A yellow weather warning has been advised from 6pm on Saturday until 11.59pm on Sunday, affecting Portree, Fort William, Mallaig, Dalmally, Taynuilt, Fort Augustus and other surrounding areas.

The Met Office warning said: “A prolonged period of heavy rain this weekend is expected to lead to some flooding and travel disruption.”

The Scottish Environmental Protection Agency (SEPA) has also advised a flood warning for Skye, Lochaber and Wester Ross during the wet weather this weekend.
