The public consultation on the next generation of contract to operate the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Service (CHFS3) is under way.
The online consultation will be open until March 8, 2024, offering island communities and stakeholders the chance to put forward their views on ferry services and help inform the development of the specification for the next contract.
A series of public engagement sessions is being planned for the new year and updates will also be made through the dedicated CHFS3 webpage.
Minister for Transport Fiona Hyslop said: “I’m pleased the public consultation is now underway, as direct engagement with island communities and stakeholders will be a crucial part of developing the next CHFS contract.
“This is one of the most significant contracts this government will enter into and its important the people who rely on our ferries have the opportunity to contribute and help us shape the future of those services.
“I have said the Scottish Government’s preference for the next contract is a direct award to CalMac using the Teckal exemption but, regardless of the chosen procurement route, it’s vital we take island views on board.
“I am very clear that the next contract to operate the Clyde and Hebrides Ferry Services should be viewed as a catalyst for change, so I would encourage as many people to take part in the consultation process as possible.”
