Actor Laura Cameron Lewis and her real-life daughter, Iseabail, who both live in the Isle of Lewis, star in a stunning new short drama airing as part of BBC ALBA’s Christmas Day schedule.
Cur is Dlùth – Cloe, Warp and Weft (airing on December 25 at 6pm) tells the story of a young girl’s yearning for family unity and a colourful future.
Cloe is a little girl who’s used to entertaining herself with arts and crafts and dreams of concerts and fashion. Her beloved grandmother can’t speak anymore and keeps wandering off with a sharp pair of scissors in her hands.
One day, when Granny goes missing, Cloe tracks her down to a hidden workshop filled with scissors, sewing machines, and colourful fabrics. Watching her busy at work at her old dress-making bench, Cloe realises her granny is a brilliant seamstress. But with this secret refuge about to be demolished, will Cloe be able to lead her Granny to safety? And will they have to leave all the mementos of a former life behind?
Written and directed by Dòl Eoin Mackinnon, Cur is Dlùth / Cloe, Warp and Weft premieres on BBC ALBA and iPlayer on Christmas Day at 6pm (in Gaelic).
