Three overturned lorries close A83 at Rest

The A83 is closed at Loch Restil, north of Rest and Be Thankful, after three overturned lorries during Storm Pia on Thursday morning (December 21).

In the evening, Police Scotland advised that the recovery operation for the third lorry was too hazardous in the high wind and darkness overnight.

They said the A83 will remain closed and recovery would recommence at first light on Friday December 22.

The diversion route is via the A82, A85 and A819 whilst Police Scotland attend the scene.

Further information will be provided via Traffic Scotland when it is available. Drive carefully as high winds are affecting all roads in the area.

Many CalMac and council ferry services to the Hebrides are also disrupted. Check for status updates on the CalMac and Argyll and Bute Council and Highland Council websites.
