Choristers raise cash for charity at Christmas

Music Shed Community Choir entertained a packed audience at their Christmas Singalong in St Andrews Hall on Tuesday December 19.

Robins, stars, mellowness, peals of bells, snowmen, turkeys, a drop of Slade and five-part harmonies all made an appearance in the songs along with some traditional carols.

“It was a really fun evening for choir and audience alike,” said songleader Mandy Ketchin.

“The hall was packed full, and the audience was brilliant, joining in all the songs they knew and learning new songs on the hoof too.”

Choir members had laid on lots of food afterwards and, thanks to everyone’s generosity on the night, the event raised £412.59 from donations for the Lochaber Foodbank.

The choir starts a new term on Tuesday January 9.

It is open to all, and warmly welcomes new members of all abilities.

“We sing to have fun and for all the other feelgood benefits, added Mandy.”

“You don’t need to read music – we learn by ear, and it’s a safe supportive space for anyone who feels timid about singing.”
