Lamlash Golf Club

Thursday September 28, Summer Cup, 12 played in good conditions: 1 Stuart McLaren 76-14=62; Scott Campbell 79-14=65 BIH; 3 Alastair Crawford 77-12=65. Scratch: Craig Young 66. Magic two: Paul Jameson @5th. Hole five was drawn and Paul won the end of the summer 2 accumulator.

Thursday was also the final of three summer season competitions. Eclectic winner Craig Young with 48, including six magic twos. Runner up: Dougie MacFarlane with 49, including magic twos.

Summer Cup winner Gordon MacIntyre 60-59-64-and 60 =243. Runner up Willie Currie 63-64-60 and 61 = 248. The club wish Willie Currie happy times with his move down under.

McLean Salver winner: Andy Pattison by 4+3; runner-up A Robinson. The McLean Salver is a qualification of the Lamlash Open, when the best eight nett scores enter a match play knockout.

Sunday October 1: start of the winter season programme. It was a beautiful warm day but only eight competed in the first of the Glenburn Cup games. Winner: Ian Bremner 71-10=61; runner-up Alastair Crawford 76-12=64. Scratch: Ian Bremner with a 71.
Magic twos: Serge El Adm @14th and Ian Bremner @16th.

Fixtures: Sunday October 8, Glenburn Cup, 9am and noon. Thursday October 12, front nine medal. Sunday October 15, Glenburn Cup, 9am and noon.

Thursday September 28, ladies fun greensome: 1 Val Crawford and Clare Buchanan 54-13=41; 2 Alice Anderson and Esther Henderson 56-14.5=41.5.

Whiting Bay Golf Club

Sunday October 1, The Hamilton Salver: For such a pleasant morning, a surprisingly small field of nine took to the course for the Hamilton Salver. On greens made tricky by recent aeration work, John Parker-Jones returned a creditable 37 points to win by one shot from John Pennycott. Congratulations to him on winning his first trophy at Whiting Bay.

Results: 1 John Parker-Jones, 22, 37 points; 2 John Pennycott, 16, 36 points; 3 Jamie Macpherson, 5, 34 points. Three magic twos were returned: Douglas Auld @4th; David Morrison @14th and Stan Rainey @17th.
