Bob MacIntyre posts strong finish to make top 25 at rain-hit Alfred Dunhill

Bob MacIntyre posted a stunning birdie-laden final round score of 65 to secure a top 25 finish at the rain-hit Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

The Oban golfer certainly knew he was back home in Scotland after his heroics in the Ryder Cup as torrential downpours saw play abandoned twice and the tournament cut to three rounds with a Monday finish.

After opening rounds of 70 and 71, the Glencruitten man fired in eight birdies with just one dropped shot to sneak into a respectable place on the leaderboard as Team Europe compatriot Matthew Fitzpatrick took the title with a score of -19.

It was a solid showing from the 27-year-old leftie after the highs and celebrations in Rome as he revealed he plans a sit down with his management team later this week to see what lies ahead.

Bob said: “We will talk about setting goals. I know what dreams I want to achieve but a lot has got to change within my life and I don’t know if I’m willing to change as much as I need to for me to achieve them.”

Securing a PGA Tour card is a possibility and that would mean a possible switch stateside for Bob, a self-confessed homebird.

He added: “I enjoy family time and home life but I will weigh up all the factors with my team around me, then move forward.”
