Storms cut power to homes

Thousands of households are without power today because of storms.

Engineers are working hard to reconnect power in communities across Argyll from Ardmaddy to Degnish and Melfort Village as well as in the Kilchrenan area along the north-side of Loch Awe and out to Dalmally.

A spokesperson for SSE said: “We’ve already restored power to almost 7,000 of our customers, and we are working to reconnect around 3,000 additional households.

“We expect to see the impacts of this ongoing storm for the rest of today and into tomorrow, and we have 10 times our usual operational response ready to react to issues on the network as they arise.

“Please don’t go near any damaged equipment – stay back, stay safe and call us on the emergency power cut number 105.”
