Fort William U14s 6
Invergordon U14s 0
Moray Firth Youth League
It was a winning return to action for Fort William Football Club’s U14s last weekend when they came up against an Invergordon team that did well to escape the mayhem Storm Babet had left up north.
But it was a strong Fort team that forced the flood gates open with good interplay and quick, incisive counter attacking football.
On another day the scoreline could have looked more flattering, if not for some good saves from the away keeper.
Fort William goals came from Jamie McNiven, 2; Kerr MacKinnon, 2; James McKellar and Maxi Maxwell.
One of the team coaches Marc MacDonald said: “It was another great performance from the boys in preparation for their biggest game of the season, against Banchory next Sunday, for the second round of the Scottish cup.
“They have had a brilliant season so far and are playing great football. They are a pleasure to watch.”
It was a good opportunity for a lot of the squad to be used in preparation for the coming weekend when they play Banchory Community FC Bulls at Lochaber High School in the U14 Scottish Youth Cup on Sunday. Kick off 1.30pm.
