One of Oban’s grandest esplanade hotels is up for sale with a guided price tag of £3.5million.
The Category B listed Great Western Hotel, with its 79 ensuite guestrooms is on the market with London-based Christie & Co Hotels.
The hotel reopened in 2021 following an acquisition by Bespoke Hotels, one of the UK’s largest independent hotel groups.
The take-over was part of a five-year Hotel Management Agreement on 40 ex-Shearings Hotels, after that company was put into administration in May 2020.
Although it can be bought as a single asset, Christie & Co are selling other hotels across the UK for the same seller.
The Great Western is part of Bespoke’s Coast & Country Collection. Other hotels included in our area are Argyll’s Arrocher Hotel and Fort William’s Caledonian Hotel.
Built back in 1862 with its classic Victorian entrance and reception, the mid-terrace Great Western hotel is marketed as being well-suited for coach and leisure holidays. Its large restaurant has room for 130 covers and there is parking space for about 26 cars. Staff accommodation is in a separate wing at the rear of the building.
All owned fixtures and fittings would be included in the sale, the rateable value from April this year was £192,000.
