Campbeltown Picture House has lined up a series of spooky films in honour of Hallowe’en.
In addition to new releases The Exorcist: Believer and Killers of the Flower Moon, the cinema is hosting one-off showings of the iconic 1993 American fantasy comedy film Hocus Pocus and 1991 family favourite The Addams Family.
The Exorcist: Believer (15)
Fifty years ago, the most terrifying horror film in history landed on screens, shocking audiences around the world. Now, a new chapter begins. Since the death of his pregnant wife in a Haitian earthquake 12 years ago, Victor has raised their daughter, Angela on his own. At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), Killers of the Flower Moon is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal.
Hocus Pocus (PG) – Saturday October 28
After 300 years of slumber, three sister witches are accidentally resurrected in Salem on Hallowe’en night, and it is up to three kids and their newfound feline friend to put an end to the witches’ reign of terror once and for all.
The Addams Family (12A) – Sunday October 29
When a man claiming to be long-lost Uncle Fester reappears after 25 years lost, the family plans a celebration to wake the dead. But the kids barely have time to warm up the electric chair before Morticia begins to suspect Fester is a fraud when he can’t recall any of the details of Fester’s life.
