NTS asks public to help shape Glenfinnan’s future

The National Trust for Scotland (NTS) is inviting Glenfinnan residents and anyone who has visited the area within the last two years to share their experiences and suggest improvements to help shape the village’s future.

The feedback will be used to inform planning and investment decisions at the popular Lochaber spot as it tries to manage significant tourist numbers.

2023 is set to be the busiest year on record in Glenfinnan. The visitor centre, managed by NTS, has welcomed almost half a million people since January, nine per cent above its previous peak in 2019 when it was Scotland’s most-visited attraction outside the Central Belt.

Emily Bryce, NTS operations manager for Glenfinnan, said supplying feedback was a ‘brilliant opportunity’ for anyone who knows or loves Glenfinnan to have their say, regardless of whether they enjoyed their experience or encountered challenges.

“This volume of visitors places pressure on our small, rural community, as well as our services and parking infrastructure, none of which were designed to accommodate such great demand,” Ms Bryce explained.

“Understanding more about why people visit, how they travelled here, the experience they had and how we could improve it, is an essential step towards planning for the future.”

The online survey can be found at https://www.nts.org.uk/glenfinnan-survey, and will be open until the end of November.
