Ghoulish and ghostly happenings on Hallowe’en

Children and adults from across Arran made the most of Hallowe’en Night with events and celebrations taking place across village halls, private parties and at schools.

As usual, the day was filled with excitement, themed treats, fun games and the opportunity to dress up as a favourite character or fancy dress outfit.

Although there were less events this year than in previous years, there was no shortage of fun to be had. At Brodick Primary School the fun, games and dancing extended from the school hall all the way to the Brodick village hall where P4 to P7 pupils enjoyed their Hallowe’en fun and games.

On offer for pupils at both locations, and at the nursery, was traditional games, dressing up, music, treats and dancing. And, as is also usual, organisers went all out to provide children with a break from lessons and all of the fun and excitement of the traditional celebrations.

Another fun event where organisers went all out to create a night of Hallowe’en fun and games took place at the annual Hallowe’en party at Shiskine.

At the village hall, youngsters enjoyed a host of fun games, including traditional favourites, such as newspaper squares, musical statues, corners, dooking and dunking for sweet treats, as well as dancing, pumpkin judging and competitions for the best outfits.

Eagerly anticipated by the children, they also enjoyed some of the island’s best pancakes, made by Fer Murchie, and refreshing drinks, along with the generous awarding of sweet prizes.

Wet and windy weather may have meant there were fewer young guisers roaming the streets but at private events, village halls and at schools the spirit of Hallowe’en remains alive and well on Arran.
