Hard lessons in Largs for 10 man Pupils

Glenvale FC 4
Campbeltown Pupils 1
WOSFL – Division 4

The Kintyre Hire-away-sponsored Pupils travelled to Largs last Saturday to play league leaders Glenvale.

It turned into a disappointing afternoon – losing the match after a harsh first half red card left the visitors playing with 10 men for nearly an hour.

Glenvale went ahead in the 26th minute, Brian Connor sliding in at the back post to score from a low cross.

Minutes later Campbeltown’s Michael McKinlay was dismissed after the referee judged a foul had denied a goal scoring opportunity.

The 10-men Pupils equalised in the 41st minute when Scott Souden scored with a stooping header.

Glenvale went back into the lead on 51 minutes, with Chris Catto the goal scorer.

Connor scored twice more in the 66th and 81st minutes to complete his hat-trick to give Glenvale a flattering score line.

Despite the result the 10-0man Pupils side played very well and matched Glenvale for long periods of the game on a very large pitch.

Tomorrow (Saturday) the Pupils face another long journey with a trip to South Lanarkshire to meet Carluke Rovers.
