Handicap event sees Ravens in full flight

Members of Oban Ravens Squash Team spread their wings at their annual handicap competition, with some great games and worthy winners.

A record number of entries competed in the event on Saturday November 4 in a best of three games format that gave all the participants a good chance to get their hands on the trophy.

The main event was won by Denise Gemmell, with Laura Mackay and Laura Tulip finishing second and third respectively.

Across these games, the more experienced players are handicapped as part of a fun and fair competition, which involves competing in main and plate competitions.

The plate draw provides a chance for those knocked out in the first round to become the ‘best of the rest’.

Claire MacQueen won the plate trophy, with Lorna MacLeod and Lindsay MacKechnie joining her on the podium.

Oban Raven Nicola Morgan said: “Well done to everyone who took part, especially the first time competitors and Denise Gemmell who won “Player of the Day”.

“She was pushed all the way and won first place in the main draw for the second year in a row.”
