Two players made their debut in the latest Oban & District Darts (ODD) competition last Friday, with 16 players gracing the oche.
And there was a high standard of darts as Brian Williams and Lewis Gilmore entered the fray.
After competitive group stages, the first quarter final saw two big hitters in the league go up against each other with Leon Smith hitting the final double in a 3-2 win against Duncan Macmillan.
In the second quarter final, Jordan Kerr defeated Keegan McPhee in a nail biting affair, with McPhee nailing the last leg with the scores at 2-2 to qualify for the semi-finals.
Adam Brook and Daniel MacMillan then both threw steady darts, with the former showing his composure to win 3-0, before Lewis McPhee and David Flanagan played out a cracking quarter-final match. Flanagan couldn’t keep up with McPhee and went down 3-1.
This was followed by a semi-final that went all the way, with Smith hitting the big numbers from the oche at 2-2 to defeat Keegan McPhee 3-2 and make the final.
He was joined in the deciding fixture by Brook, with a 3-0 win against Lewis McPhee for the league leader not reflecting the closeness of the game.
This led to a race to four legs for Smith and Brook in a heated final, with both scoring well, the latter just having the edge in the doubles to win 4-0 on the night.
There were two 171-180s checkouts in this latest round as Kerr hit his first 180 in the league with runner-up Smith nailing one as well.
Lewis McPhee, 120, and Adam Brook, 102, also hit 100-plus checkouts, with the Player of the Week award going to Leon Smith, who sits second overall.
This fourth season of the ODD league is sponsored by M Macniven Building Contractor and takes place in the Claredon on Fridays at 7pm.
