Arran Riding Club recently held a Hallowe’en show at Glenkiln Indoor Arena by kind permission of Mr and Mrs K Bone.
The event, on Saturday October 28, kicked off with a horse and rider fancy dress competition with an impressive 17 entries.
The winners were: 1 Ruby McArthur and Logan; 2 Ella Bowers and Bear; 3 Leah MacHale and Raffles; 4 Arwen Gosman and Izzy; 5 Evie Southwick and Prince; 6 Emily Mochan and Ted.
Horses and riders then negotiated nine show jumping fences with the aim of gaining a clear round. They then competed to jump as many jumps as possible in under one minute in the “pick a fence” class. There were three different height classes – 30cm, 50cm and 70cm.
Results: Clear round, in ridden order: 30cm class: Isla and Harry; Cara and Mac. 50cm class: Eva and Connie; Clair and Colin; Lily Currie and Tia; Hollie Adamson and Lexus. 70cm class: Lucy Blair and Clint. Pick a Fence: 30cm class: 1 Finn Popplewell and Cassy; 2 Isla McKinnon and Harry; 3 Cara Henderson and Mac; 4 Arwen Gosman and Freddie; 5 Leah MacHale and Raffles; 6 Molly Young and Blue. 50cm class: 1 Hollie Adamson and Lexus; 2 Alison Henderson and Spud; 3 Lily Currie and Tia; 4 Eva McCrae and Connie; 5 Ella Bowers and Bear; 6 Kirsty Hume and Ted. 70cm class: 1 Niamh Gosman and Izzy; 2 Chloe McNeil and Layla; 3 Lucy Blair and Clint.
Hallowe’en themed pony games including a bending race, apple dooking race and sweetie eating race were held after the show jumping.
Results: Bending race: 1 Lucy Blair and Clint; 2 Eva McCrae and Connie; 3 Niamh Gosman and Izzy; 4 Hollie Adamson and Lexus. Apple dooking: 1 Leah MacHale and Raffles; 2 Isla McKinnon and Harry, 3 Hollie Adamson and Lexus; 4 Ella Bowers and Bear. Sweetie eating: 1 Ella Bowers and Bear; 2 Hollie Adamson and Lexus; 3 Chloe McNeil and Layla; 4 Isla McKinnon and Harry.
The event finished with a pumpkin competition with many creative carvings to choose from. Rosettes for winning pumpkins were awarded to: 1 Ella Bowers; 2 Ruby McArthur; 3 Arwen Gosman; 4 Kirsty Hume; 5 Evie Southwick; 6 Cara Henderson.
