Oh baby! Primary pupils learn responsibilities

St Columba’s Primary 5, 6 and 7 pupils created flour babies to help them with nurturing lessons.

As part of the health and wellbeing curriculum, they had to take care of them all day and night, remembering to bring them into school and not leave them home alone.

Nurturing lessons at St Columba’s Primary School saw pupils in Years 5, 6 and 7 create their own flour babies to take care of day and night.

The children dressed them in baby clothes, or wrapped them with a blanket, drew faces on them, added accessories and gave them names.

“All went well and the children got some insight into what it is like to have a higher level of responsibility,” said St Columba staff member Helen McGuigan.
