Christmas appeal launched at MOMA coffee morning

MOMA launched its ‘Twelve Days of Christmas’ appeal at a very tasty coffee morning in Lochgilphead Parish Church hall on Saturday November 18.

Moving On Mid Argyll, the charity that offers support when it’s needed all year round, is making a special plea to us all to ‘make someone’s Christmas a little better this year’.

MOMA volunteer Kim Cartledge explained: “The idea is for people to pick up a bag from the Community Shop in Lochgilphead, or from their local church, and to put a little something in it every day from December 1-12 – things like fancy biscuits, canned food, toiletries and wee treats – and then return the bag to the Community Shop by December 16.”

These special festive bags will then be added to the donations that go out every Christmas to individuals and families who are moving on from difficult circumstances.

The coffee morning was an event that also raised awareness of the work that MOMA does throughout the year, providing everything from emergency food parcels to starter packs for people going into new homes.

MOMA chair Marian Pallister said: “On a very wet day, people turned out to support MOMA – and to enjoy some wonderful home baking – and their generosity will, as always, ensure extra help in these difficult times.

“We can’t thank them enough. Our thanks also go to all the local businesses that have pledged their support for MOMA. Their generosity will help transform lives.”

Marian added: “We’re very grateful to all the home bakers, the volunteers, and especially to our young waiting staff who made it a very special coffee morning. We raised a magnificent £466.70!”
